Abstract
Abstract
This study aims to examine the role of flashcards as a learning medium in improving verbal communication skills among students at PAUD Kualo Insani. Verbal communication is a crucial aspect of early childhood language development, encompassing speaking, listening, reading, and writing abilities. In early childhood education, visual media such as flashcards are believed to stimulate language skills more effectively by presenting information in a concrete and engaging manner. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews with teachers, and documentation of learning activities. The findings revealed that consistent use of flashcards in learning activities significantly enhanced children's vocabulary mastery, improved their speaking abilities, and supported correct pronunciation and intonation. This medium also encouraged active participation in the learning process. These findings align with theories of instructional media and verbal communication, which state that visual media are effective in supporting message delivery and language development. Therefore, the use of flashcards can be considered an effective and practical learning strategy to foster verbal communication in early childhood.
