Abstract
This study investigates the interpersonal communication between Ustadz (Islamic teachers) and Santri (students) in motivating Quran memorization at Masjid Al-Aman, Aspol Paakri Complex. The research highlights the characteristics of effective interpersonal communication in this context, noting that it involves a two-way flow of messages, high feedback levels, and adeptness at managing high selectivity. The communication is dynamic and encompasses both verbal and nonverbal cues, such as facial expressions, eye contact, and tone of voice. According to communication and motivation theories, the Ustadz's communication includes openness, empathy, supportive attitudes, equality, and positivity. They consistently listen, understand, and provide full support to the Santri while treating them fairly and displaying a positive attitude to encourage motivation. The study also examines the roles of physical needs, safety, social needs, and recognition in the communication process.
