Abstract

ABSTRAK

Proses pendaftaran siswa baru di SMP Negeri 7 Babat Supat sebelumnya masih menggunakan formulir kertas dan mengharuskan calon siswa datang ke sekolah. Kondisi tersebut menimbulkan risiko kesalahan pencatatan, dokumen tercecer, penggunaan kertas berulang, serta proses verifikasi yang memerlukan waktu lebih lama. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan sistem informasi pendaftaran siswa baru berbasis web yang mendukung pengisian data, pengunggahan dokumen, verifikasi, dan penyampaian status pendaftaran. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi pada Januari sampai Maret 2025. Pengembangan sistem menerapkan model Waterfall yang meliputi analisis kebutuhan, perancangan, implementasi, verifikasi, dan pemeliharaan. Sistem dibangun menggunakan PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, dan JavaScript, sedangkan pemodelan menggunakan UML. Hasil penelitian menghasilkan aplikasi dengan dua hak akses, yaitu calon siswa dan admin. Calon siswa dapat membuat akun, mengisi formulir, menyimpan draf, mengunggah dokumen, mengirim pendaftaran, memperbaiki data yang belum lengkap, dan melihat status. Admin dapat memeriksa dokumen, memberikan catatan, mengubah status, serta mengelola data secara terpusat. Berdasarkan enam skenario Black Box Testing, seluruh fungsi yang diuji menghasilkan keluaran sesuai harapan. Sistem telah memenuhi kebutuhan fungsional utama, tetapi masih memerlukan pengujian pengguna, pengujian beban, peningkatan keamanan, dan integrasi notifikasi eksternal sebelum diterapkan secara lebih luas pada periode penerimaan sebenarnya.

ABSTRACT

The new student admission process at SMP Negeri 7 Babat Supat previously relied on paper-based forms and required prospective students to visit the school in person. This condition increased the risk of recording errors, misplaced documents, repeated paper use, and longer verification times. This study aims to develop a web-based new student admission information system that supports data entry, document uploading, verification, and admission status notifications. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation from January to March 2025. The system was developed using the Waterfall model, which consists of requirements analysis, design, implementation, verification, and maintenance. PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript were used to build the system, while UML was used for system modelling. The developed application provides two user roles: prospective students and administrators. Prospective students can create accounts, complete application forms, save drafts, upload documents, submit applications, revise incomplete data, and view their admission status. Administrators can review documents, provide feedback, update application statuses, and manage data centrally. Based on six Black Box Testing scenarios, all tested functions produced the expected results. The system successfully met its primary functional requirements. However, user acceptance testing, load testing, security improvements, and integration with external notification services are still required before the system can be implemented more widely during the actual admission period.
